About this Programme
The core purpose of the RDIP is to sensitize management students to the pressing issues of poverty and development in rural and urban areas. Through experiential learning, the program helps students connect their personal growth and career aspirations with broader societal development goals. It emphasizes the importance of social entrepreneurship, encouraging students to create business models that not only generate profit but also uplift disadvantaged communities.
Evolution from Development Immersion Program (DIP) to Rural Immersion Program (RIP)
Initially offered as the Development Immersion Program (DIP), this course was rebranded as the Rural Immersion Program (RIP) to better reflect its focus on rural social entrepreneurship. This shift underscores the importance that Thiagarajar School of Management places on educating students not just in business and management strategies, but also in becoming socially responsible citizens. The RDIP is now regarded as a critical component of the curriculum, on par with other academic courses, due to its role in fostering values of service and community engagement.
RDIP: A Platform for Socially Responsible Leadership
The Rural Development Immersion Programme is a well-structured course where students work in teams to devise successful business plans tailored to rural settings. This program is integral to grooming the next generation of leaders in social entrepreneurship. By providing students with a comprehensive understanding of how to create impactful business models, the RDIP is instrumental in shaping socially conscious leaders who are equipped to make meaningful contributions to society.
Through the RDIP, Thiagarajar School of Management reinforces its commitment to producing graduates who are not only skilled in business and management but also dedicated to driving positive change in society.
