Placement outcomes, recruiters, and the team that drives TSM success.
Placement Roadmap
At Thiagarajar School of Management (TSM), the placement journey is a structured, continuous process that begins from the first trimester and progresses through multiple stages of assessment, training, industry engagement, and recruitment. Our objective is to ensure that every student is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to excel in today's competitive corporate environment.
Placement Introduction
The placement journey begins with the student's registration process, where students formally submit their details to the placement cell. During this phase, students are introduced to the placement policy, recruitment guidelines, and expectations. Individual profiles are verified, resumes are initiated, and students are oriented on the placement process, corporate etiquette, and career planning.
Placement Training & Mock Interviews
The second trimester focuses on preparing students for the recruitment process through comprehensive placement training. Students undergo intensive sessions covering aptitude development, communication skills, resume building, interview techniques, and corporate readiness.
To enhance their confidence, mock interviews are conducted by experienced trainers and industry professionals, providing constructive feedback that enables students to identify improvement areas before facing actual recruiters.
Summer Internship Programme (SIP)
During the third trimester, students enrol for the Summer Internship Programme (SIP). The Placement Cell coordinates internship opportunities with leading organisations across various industries, ensuring that students gain practical exposure aligned with their chosen specialisation.
The SIP recruitment process allows students to apply classroom concepts in real-world business environments while developing industry-specific competencies and professional networks.
Career Mapping & Company Specific Training
Before the commencement of the final placement season, TSM conducts a comprehensive assessment to evaluate every student's placement readiness. The primary objective is to help students understand their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and receive focused training before corporate hiring begins.
The assessment consists of three major components:
Industry Experts Assessment
Industry professionals and distinguished alumni are invited to conduct one-to-one interviews with students based on their chosen specialisation, such as Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and Business Analytics. These interactions simulate real recruitment interviews while providing valuable feedback on domain knowledge, business awareness, and professional competencies.
Soft Skills Assessment
Students are evaluated on essential communication and interpersonal skills through activities including:
- Just A Minute (JAM)
- Group Discussions (GD)
- Group Presentations
- Extempore Speaking
- Professional Communication
- Leadership and Teamwork
Aptitude Assessment
Students undergo a comprehensive aptitude evaluation covering:
- Quantitative Ability
- Verbal Ability
- Logical Reasoning
- Data Interpretation
- General Knowledge & Current Affairs
- Analytical Thinking
The combined performance across all assessment parameters enables the Placement Cell to map students with relevant industries. This mapping serves as a developmental framework, helping students recognise their improvement areas and receive personalised mentoring and training before the campus recruitment season begins.
Campus Recruitment (Full Time)
The first phase of campus recruitment commences with participation from leading recruiters across diverse sectors.
In parallel, the Placement Cell conducts company-specific training programmes tailored to individual recruiters:
- Company and industry orientation
- Job description analysis
- Role-specific skill enhancement
- Aptitude practice
- Interview preparation
- Group Discussion preparation
- Mock HR and Technical Interviews
This focused preparation enables students to perform confidently and effectively during the recruitment process. The second phase of campus recruitment continues with additional hiring opportunities across multiple industries.
Onboarding Support
The Placement Cell extends its support beyond the offer stage by facilitating a seamless onboarding experience for students:
- Offer acceptance guidance
- Documentation verification
- Pre-employment compliance assistance
- Coordination with recruiting organisations
- Regular follow-ups with students and recruiters
- Assistance until successful joining
Through continuous engagement with both students and recruiters, the Placement Cell ensures a smooth transition from campus to corporate life, reinforcing TSM's commitment to student success and long-term industry partnerships.
