Dr. Balaji M

Dr. Balaji M is an Associate Professor in the Operations Management and Decision Sciences Area and serves as the Dean – MBA Programme at Thiagarajar School of Management (TSM), Madurai.

He holds a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an MBA, an M.E. in Manufacturing Engineering, and has completed the Faculty Development Programme in Management at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. With more than two decades of academic and administrative experience, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening the MBA programme delivery, curriculum innovation, quality assurance, accreditation and institutional development.

His teaching and research interests include Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Data Analytics, Business Statistics, Strategic Cost Management and Sustainable Supply Chains. His research has been published in leading international journals, including Resources, Conservation and Recycling, International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management, and Journal of Health Organization and Management. His widely cited work on food supply chain management has made significant contributions to the field of sustainable operations.

Dr. Balaji is the Nodal Officer for NIRF Rankings and a core committee member of the AACSB, NAAC, NBA, and IQAC committees. He has successfully led initiatives in academic planning, accreditation, institutional rankings, and stakeholder engagement.

Beyond academia, he has designed and delivered executive development programmes and management development programmes for leading organisations such as Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, Apollo Hospitals, Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited (SPIC), TVS Tyres, India Post, and Hi-Tech Arai.

A Certified Independent Director, Certified Research Analyst by National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), Six Sigma Green Belt and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Dr. Balaji is committed to advancing management education through research excellence, industry collaboration and innovation in teaching and learning.
